Today: Keep still in quiet retreat before taking action – from the I Ching

yinyang02paperKeep still in quiet retreat.  Cease all movement in the spine and hold your awareness in silence. Empty your mind of past and future, and dwell totally in the moment at hand.

The text reads:
True quiet means keeping still when the time has come to keep still, and going forward when the time has come to go forward.  In this way rest and movement are in agreement with the demands of the time, and thus there is light in life.

We cannot directly control external events.  When those with whom we align ourselves fall, we cannot save them.  There is no hope that springs from the current situation.  The current state of corruption was not caused by evil intention, but rather the abuse of human freedom and a longstanding apathy to it.  Resign yourself to the current condition and feel the grief.  We must allow all movement to come to a zero point where it can be reformed and reborn into into a new configuration.

Wait a few days or however long it takes until a new awareness begins to emerge in the group consciousness.  Just be aware.  Afterwards, you can move forward with new conviction toward a clear goal. Then take action!

The text reads:
We must first know the causes of corruption before we can do away with them; hence it is necessary to be cautious during the time before the start. Then we must see to it that the new way is safely entered on, so that a relapse may be avoided; therefore we must pay attention to the time after the start. Decisiveness and energy must take the place of inertia and indifference that have led to decay, in order that the ending may be followed by a new beginning.
