Today: “Strive to do good and you will be good.  Your steadfastness will not be contradicted and your destiny strewn with blessings.” from the I Ching

Goodness brings goodness
Steadfastness blessed with reward
Destiny assured
Strive to do good and you will be good.  Your steadfastness will not be contradicted and your destiny strewn with blessings.
the Hukamnama from the Golden Temple:
O Siblings of Destiny, chant the Name of the Lord, the Purifier of sinners.
The Lord emancipates his Saints and devotees.
The Lord is totally permeating and pervading everywhere;
the Name of the Lord is pervading the water and the land.
So sing continuously of the Lord, the Dispeller of pain.
The Lord has made my life fruitful and rewarding.
I meditate on the Lord, the Dispeller of pain.
I have met the Guru, the Giver of liberation.
The Lord has made my life’s journey fruitful and rewarding.
Joining the Sangat, the Holy Congregation, I sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord
O mortal, place your hopes in the Name of the Lord,
and your love of duality shall simply vanish.
One who, in hope, remains unattached to hope,
such a humble being meets with his Lord.
And one who sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord’s Name
– servant Nanak falls at his feet.

42 – Forty-Two.  I / Expansion

Whirlwinds and Thunder:
When the Superior Person encounters saintly behavior, he adopts it; when he encounters a fault within, he transforms it.

Progress in every endeavor.
You may cross to the far shore.

SITUATION ANALYSIS:

Get ready to ride a tide of accelerated growth toward self-actualization.
A joyful awareness of the best within you, coupled with an acceptance of your Shadow, will provide a greater repertoire, a much bolder vision, and new depth and clarity that will compel you to expand your horizons.

Six in the second place means:

Your work is reverently admired by another who makes a substantial contribution to your cause.
This patron is deeply spiritual, and can benefit you in ways beyond the material world.

Someone does indeed increase him;
Ten pairs of tortoises cannot oppose it.
Constant perseverance brings good fortune.
The king presents him before God.
Good fortune.

Tortoises

A man brings about real increase by producing in himself the conditions for it, that is, through receptivity to and love of the good. Thus the thing for which he strives comes of itself, with the inevitability of natural law. Where increase is thus in harmony with the highest laws of the universe1, it cannot be prevented by any constellation of accidents. But everything depends on his not letting unexpected good fortune make him heedless; he must make it his own through inner strength and steadfastness. Then he acquires meaning before God and man, and can accomplish something for the good of the world.

1. When Douglas Adams wrote The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, he added a central joke which has become more famous over the years than the novel itself: “The answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe and everything is 42.”

41 – Forty-one.  Sun / Decrease

The stoic Mountain drains its excess waters to the Lake below:
The Superior Person curbs his anger and sheds his desires.

To be frugal and content is to possess immeasurable wealth within.
Nothing of value could be refused such a person.
Make a portion of each meal a share of your offering.

SITUATION ANALYSIS:

This is an occasion for downsizing to fighting trim.
Simplicity and economy are strong defenses against the slings and arrows of Outrageous Fortune.
Whether this is a time of want or a time of plenty, it is an auspicious time to shed a dependency.
