“When you become light and you radiate, there is no darkness. A candle has one future, to spread the light. How does the candle spread the light? By burning itself, the candle spreads light and consequently knows the future. If you burn yourself, you will radiate and will spread light. The job of the human being is to radiate through the finite self the infinite light.” Yogi Bhajan

Tao Te Ching – Verse 31 – Weapons are the tools of violence; all decent men detest them.
Tao Te Ching – Verse 31
Weapons are the tools of violence;
all decent men detest them.
Weapons are the tools of fear;
a decent man will avoid them
except in the direst necessity
and, if compelled, will use them
only with the utmost restraint.
Today: “Serve without attracting attention. Fame and misfortune. Strive to establish a legacy that grows and is known for its utility and value rather than your glory.” – From the I Ching
Fame and misfortune /
bountiful is compassion /
projecting no name
Serve without attracting attention. Fame and misfortune. Strive to establish a legacy that grows and is known for its utility and value rather than your glory.
Earth above and Earth below:
The Earth contains and sustains.
In this situation, the Superior Person should not take the initiative; he should
follow the initiative of another. This is a time for dealing with reality as it is, not as you would have it be.
If you realize that in this situation you are the receptor, not the transmitter of the stimulus, you will find yourself reaching goals that seemed unattainable under your own steam.
If you persist in futile efforts to be the Shaper rather than the Shaped, you will completely miss this unique opportunity.follow the initiative of another.
Hide your brilliance.
Feeling no threat, they won’t resist the completion of your goal.
All you lose is credit for the accomplishment.
If a man is free of vanity he is able to conceal his abilities and keep them from attracting attention too soon; thus he can mature undisturbed. If conditions demand it, he can also enter public life, but that too he does with restraint. The wise man gladly leaves fame to others. He does not seek to have credited to himself things that stand accomplished, but hopes to release active forces; that is, he completes his works in such a manner that they may bear fruit for the future.
Beneath the Soil, the Seedling pushes upward toward the light:
To preserve his integrity, the Superior Person contents himself with small gains that eventually lead to great accomplishment.

Tao Te Ching – Verse 30
Whoever relies on the Tao in governing men
doesn’t try to force issues
or defeat enemies by force of arms.
For every force there is a counterforce.
Violence, even well intentioned,
always rebounds upon oneself.
Today: “Hold to your chosen path. Meet the flow of events without resistance. What is happening needs no justification. Keep up and do not be led astray.” – From the I Ching
Mind touches heaven /
Earth flows without and within /
Heart embraces all
Hold to your chosen path. Meet the flow of events without resistance. What is happening needs no justification. Keep up and do not be led astray.
Fire rises hot and bright from the Wood beneath the sacrificial caldron:
The Superior Person positions himself correctly within the flow of Cosmic forces.
Supreme Accomplishment.
Your needs are coming into harmony with the requirements of the Cosmos.
Blending brilliantly with the Dance of Life, you are becoming an actual element of Cosmic Law.
Your goals will now be realized because you no longer cut against the Cosmic grain; you are no longer swimming against the flow of the Tao.
You are acquiring an intuitive sense of what can and cannot be, and aligning your efforts accordingly.
The caldron you cook in has yellow handles and golden carrying rings.
Good fortune if you keep to this course.
Here we have, in a ruling position, a man who is approachable and modest in nature. As a result of this attitude he succeeds in finding strong and able helpers who complement and aid him in his work. Having achieved this attitude, which requires constant self-abnegation, it is important for him to hold to it and not to let himself be led astray.
Earth above and Earth below:

Responsive devotion.
Receptive influence.
Sublime Success if you keep to your course.

“The whole world is to realize yourself what you are and to be what you are. Do not inflate and do not deflate. Find the median point. The problem with man is that he is asked, “Are you this or are you that?” But you are not this nor that, you are as you are.” Yogi Bhajan

Tao Te Ching – Verse 29
Do you want to improve the world?
I don’t think it can be done.
The world is sacred.
It can’t be improved.
If you tamper with it, you’ll ruin it.
If you treat it like an object, you’ll lose it. Continue reading “Tao Te Ching – Verse 29 – Do you want to improve the world? I don’t think it can be done.”
Today: “Take guidance from your faithful and diligent practice, not allowing your choices to join whatever wind is currently blowing. Before you act, first contemplate any doubts in the context of your faith in your chosen life’s path.” – From the I Ching
Faithful, diligent /
Contemplate doubt within faith /
acting from your heart
Take guidance from your faithful and diligent practice, not allowing your choices to join whatever wind is currently blowing. Before you act, first contemplate any doubts in the context of your faith in your chosen life’s path.
Arousing Thunder and penetrating Wind.
Close companions in any storm:
The Superior Person possesses a resiliency and durability that lets him remain firmly and faithfully on course.
True resilience requires a flexibility that allows adaptation to any adverse condition, while still remaining true to the core.
He who does not give duration to his character
Meets with disgrace.
Persistent humiliation.
If a man remains at the mercy of moods of hope or fear aroused by the outer world, he loses his inner consistency of character. Such inconsistency invariably leads to distressing experiences. These humiliations often come from an unforeseen quarter. Such experiences are not merely effects produced by the external world, but logical consequences evoked by his own nature.
Thunder comes resounding out of the Earth:
Similar thunder roars up from the masses when the Superior Person strikes a chord in their hearts.
Whip up enthusiasm, rally your forces, and move boldly forward.

Tao Te Ching – Verse 27
A good traveler has no fixed plans
and is not intent upon arriving.
A good artist lets his intuition
lead him wherever it wants.
A good scientist has freed himself of concepts
and keeps his mind open to what is.
Thus the Master is available to all people
and doesn’t reject anyone.
He is ready to use all situations
and doesn’t waste anything.
This is called embodying the light. Continue reading “Tao Te Ching – Verse 27 – A good traveler has no fixed plans and is not intent upon arriving”
Today: “Witness the damage allowed by apathy. Engage the spirit awakened by the latest atrocities. Renew the foundations of liberty with informed intention. Reform the rules for justice. Live in peace.” – From the I Ching
Witness the decay /
engage in spirit reborn /
renew and reform
Witness the decay allowed by apathy. Engage in spirit awakened by atrocity. Renew the foundations of liberty with informed intention. Reform the rules for justice. Live in peace.
Winds sweep through the Mountain valley:
The Superior Person sweeps away corruption and stagnation by stirring up the people and strengthening their spirit.
You are blessed with an opportunity to resuscitate that which others have abandoned as beyond repair.
This ruin wasn’t caused by evil intention, but by indifference to decay.
Just by addressing yourself to the problem, you exhibit a new awareness, a fresh perspective.
This is a time of recovery, renewal, regeneration.
Correcting his father’s error, a son treads dangerously close to dishonor.
Yet sparing his father from blame brings good fortune in the end.
Setting right what has been spoiled by the father.
If there is a son,
No blame rests upon the departed father.
Danger. In the end good fortune.
Rigid adherence to tradition has resulted in decay. But the decay has not yet penetrated deeply and so can still be easily remedied. It is as if a son were compensating for the decay his father allowed to creep in. Then no blame attaches to the father. However, one must not overlook the danger or take the matter too lightly. Only if one is conscious of the danger connected with every reform will everything go well in the end.
Heaven and Earth embrace, giving birth to Peace.
The Superior Person serves as midwife, presenting the newborn gift to the people.
The small depart; the great approach.
Success.
Good fortune.
Everything is in harmony, all obstacles are cleared from your Path, anything you could ask for is right at hand.

Tao Te Ching – Verse 26 – The heavy is the root of the light. The unmoved is the source of all movement.
Tao Te Ching – Verse 26
The heavy is the root of the light.
The unmoved is the source of all movement.
Thus the Master travels all day
without leaving home.
However splendid the views,
she stays serenely in herself.
Why should the lord of the country
flit about like a fool?
If you let yourself be blown to and fro,
you lose touch with your root.
If you let restlessness move you,
you lose touch with who you are.
