The Master has no mind of her own.
She works with the mind of the people.
She is good to people who are good.
She is also good to people who aren’t good.
This is true goodness.
She trusts people who are trustworthy.
She also trusts people who aren’t trustworthy.
This is true trust.
The Master’s mind is like space.
People don’t understand her.
They look to her and wait.
She treats them like her own children. Continue reading “Tao Te Ching – Verse 49 – The Master has no mind of her own. She works with the mind of the people.”
A person given authority by the leader MUST expand his awareness as his influence increases. Watch what he does rather than what he says. As obstacles arise, compromise MUST be sought in earnest. helper MUST NOT simply be a tool.
The Superior Person expands his sphere of influence as he expands his awareness.
Deeply devoted to his pursuit of clarity and wisdom, he is unconscious of the inspiring, positive example he is setting for others to emulate.
Observe the leader firsthand to decide the worthiness of the cause.
It furthers one to exert influence as the guest of a king.
This describes a man who understands the secrets by which a kingdom can be made to flourish. Such a man must be given an authoritative position, in which he can exert influence. He should be, so to speak, a guest – that is, he should be honored and allowed to act independently, and should not be used as a tool.
Even though he sincerely knows he is right, the Superior Person anticipates opposition and carefully prepares for any incident.
Good fortune if your conflict results in compromise.
Misfortune if your conflict escalates to confrontation.
Seek advice.
Postpone your crossing to the far shore.

In pursuit of knowledge,
every day something is added.
In the practice of the Tao,
every day something is dropped.
Less and less do you need to force things,
until finally you arrive at non-action.
When nothing is done,
nothing is left undone.
True mastery can be gained
by letting things go their own way.
It can’t be gained by interfering. Continue reading “Tao Te Ching – Verse 48 – In pursuit of knowledge, every day something is added. In the practice of the Tao, every day something is dropped.”
It is a time to set right what has been neglected. If you step up to the challenge you can gain insight into how things can be fixed. if, in weakness you cannot, things will only get worse.
You are blessed with an opportunity to resuscitate that which others have abandoned as beyond repair.
This ruin wasn’t caused by evil intention, but by indifference to decay.
Just by addressing yourself to the problem, you exhibit a new awareness, a fresh perspective.
This is a time of recovery, renewal, regeneration.
Tolerating what has been spoiled by the father.
In continuing one sees humiliation.
This shows the situation of someone too weak to take measures against decay that has its roots in the past and is just beginning to manifest itself. It is allowed to run its course. If this continues, humiliation will result.
Your goals will now be realized because you no longer cut against the Cosmic grain; you are no longer swimming against the flow of the Tao.
You are acquiring an intuitive sense of what can and cannot be, and aligning your efforts accordingly.

Without opening your door,
you can open your heart to the world.
Without looking out your window,
you can see the essence of the Tao.

the less you understand.

achieves without doing a thing. Continue reading “Tao Te Ching – Verse 47 – Without opening your door, you can open your heart to the world”
Those you have served will want to repay you. Those who have caused you harm through their own negligence or delusion will suffer consequences of their own doing. Strive with them with common cause to make things right.
This is a time of reward for good works.
Those you have helped want to show their gratitude.
Benefits come both from on high and from the humble you uplifted.
Accept all gifts graciously, though the reward may not be what you truly need or hoped for.
Making progress with lowered horns – i.e., acting on the offensive – is permissible, in times like those referred to here, only in dealing with the mistakes of one’s own people. Even then we must bear in mind that proceeding on the offensive may always be dangerous. In this way we avoid the mistakes that otherwise threaten, and succeed in what we set out to do. On the other hand, perseverance in such overenergetic behavior, especially toward persons with whom there is no close connection, will lead to humiliation.
There is a rhythmic force, a world music, that lives deep in the Unconscious of each of us.
It’s a primitive drumbeat, a shaking rattle, a tribal chant that invokes the primal self to rise up and join the dance.
This is the enthusiasm that is generated now.
It is time to heal the effects of malevolence. Teach the perpetrators:

“All you have to do in your whole life is to join with one word through which you can feel that your finite personality is joined with the infinite. That is all you need. Learn it through any religion, any yoga master, through any swami, through a butcher, through anybody. Learn it. It is immaterial from whom; but learn it. This is why they say, “That mean, mean man whom nobody knows, when he meditates on the Nam, the four corners of the world will bow to him.”” Yogi Bhajan

No disaster greater than discontentment
No fault greater than avarice

is the lasting satisfaction

When a country is in harmony with the Tao,
the factories make trucks and tractors.
When a country goes counter to the Tao,
warheads are stockpiled outside the cities.
There is no greater illusion than fear,
no greater wrong than preparing to defend yourself, no greater misfortune than having an enemy.
Whoever can see through all fear
will always be safe.

It is impossible to tell exactly how something will work out, so just apply yourself to your chosen task. Your innocence will be revealed in the outcome.
What stymies you in this situation is that you have a motive at all.
Free yourself of all expectations, release any tenuous grip you may have, and roll with it.
This is totally out of your control.
There are higher powers and more elements affecting the outcome of this situation than you can imagine.
Get out of their way.
Plow your field for a field well-plowed, not for possible harvests.
Clear the wasteland for land well-cleared, not for potential rich fields.
Such guileless enterprise can’t help but succeed.
No matter how large or diverse the group, the Superior Person remains uniquely himself.
Small accomplishments are possible.
On remaining completely yourself:

This kriya reveals aspects of your self as a model for this incarnation. Some are relative, two are absolute. This awareness can be applied to how you relate with yourself and yourself in the context of what is going on..
You cannot change who you are, only how you relate with yourself and everything else. If you don’t like the way things are going, this can help.

Under attack by foreign invaders, true leadership must be placed in charge, who will band together.
The Superior Person nourishes and instructs the people, building a loyal, disciplined following.
Good fortune.
No mistakes if you follow a course led by experience.
Game is in the field – it has left its usual haunts in the forest and is devastating the fields. This points to an enemy invasion. Energetic combat and punishment are here thoroughly justified, but they must not degenerate into a wild melee in which everyone fends for himself. Despite the greatest degree of perseverance and bravery, this would lead to misfortune. The army must be directed by an experienced leader. It is a matter of waging war, not of permitting the mob to slaughter all who fall into their hands; if they do, defeat will be the result, and despite all perseverance there is danger of misfortune.
Cultivating the proper disciplines and the proper degree of discipline are the concerns of this hexagram.
By limiting options, you may give more attention to priorities.

“No man can escape physical death. Whosoever is born must die. The great mistake is that man starts worshipping man instead of worshipping Infinity, which he must worship and understand through knowledge. You can respect me, love me, cater to me, and I can give you all the technical wisdom, but you have to experience the knowledge, and that will be when, on a level of creativity, you experience it through practice.” Yogi Bhajan
